KASUMI NAKAMURA (Kas)
Day 1
How will/have ict change the way teaching & learning occurs in the pyp?
My thoughts...
- It makes inquiry more accessible for students through the use of things like the internet, but also challenging in the way that it become more crucial for students to be able to distinguish between authentic information and those that are not.
- The ability to make connections with the global community - not constraint to just their own classroom or local community.
- Provides more options/varieties for planning, organisng and presenting ideas and work.
- It allows for broader collaboration
Reflecting on today with LP attributes (with bronwyn)
Activities we did and the Learner Profiles it links in with...
- Info wheel about our self: Thinker (Think about ourself and how best to communicate things across), Reflective (Reflect on yourself), Communicator (Being able to express our ideas clearly)
- Essential agreements: Balanced (a balance in the items you think about), Thinker (about what will be a good appropriate essential agreement), Inquirer (inquire into what agreements may be necessary for this workshop)
- Padlet activity: Communicator (sharing and expressing ideas clearly)
- Various discussions throughout the day: Communicator (sharing ideas), Open-minded (about different views and abilities of workshop members), Reflective (of their own experiences)
Poster for 'communicator'
Reflection: 2 things i learnt from day 1
1) CRAP - Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity - by using this it enables you to create and express something in a clear visual format in order to get some form of message across (such as a poster).
2) Padlet - a useful online tool which allows for participant collaboration in a non-threatening environment.

Day 2
Using twitter for educational purposes...??Once a class account is set up, it could be used by the class (teachers & students) as a means for sharing information about what is going on in the classroom; a place to provide information about homework; field trips etc; sharing student work through photo uploads.
Some things that will need to be considered is privacy issues as some parents do not feel comfortable having their child's work uploaded online. |
How i have used technology to support reflection?
I have used the following for student reflections and peer assessment(?)/commenting:
- Voicethread - record their own reflection and get their peers to comment
- Weebly blogs - students write a reflection on the given topic and encourage peers to comment
- Wikispaces - students used this space for retell activities & reflections
- Video recordings - students watched their own debate that was filmed by the teacher, which they later critically reflected and analysed in terms of content said during the debate.
something I'd like to take away with me and use...
- Use video apps to provide students opportunity to become the 'teacher' and present their findings/reflections (eg. videolicious on the iPad)
- Use Class Dojo to make behavioural reflections something they can access and reflect on.
