DAY ONE:
Opening statement...
This workshop will be a success for me...by learning about new applications / software programs, which can be incorporated into my classroom....seamlessly and easily :) A few light bulb moments would be great!
How has/will technology change teaching and learning through the PYP at our schools?
Learning and technology within the classroom environment are so intertwined. It's necessary now that students are given the skills and knowledge to develop their understanding of the digital tools available to them. My concern with more and more integration of ICT is that the balance will shift - will we be sitting in the classroom and not actually communicating with our voices (or actions), but communicating with our fingers whipping across the keyboard creating weebly's and wikis. Of course, the other side of the argument here is that the students and teachers are still communicating!
Sean..."...improving learning outcomes for your students" by using ICT within the classroom.
Sean..."...creators, not consumers", love this! Giving the skills/devices to the students to create something, not just play around with apps!
12 o'clock partners...list learner profile attributes (attitudes and transdis skills) in relation to the activities completed this morning...
Knowledge wheel - this activity allowed us to be communicators (share by writing our ideas); risk-taker (share something personal); open-minded (being aware that people are different, being aware of where people are coming from).
Essential agreement - risk-taker (sharing ideas in an open forum);
Knowledge grid - communicator (asking questions, interacting with other people);
Padlet - communicator (recording statements important to us); risk-taker (allowing others to critique our ideas); caring (when critiquing making sure it's positive); reflective (reflecting on other people's ideas)
Contrast - Repitition - Alignment - Proximity....C.R.A.P.

The infographic...great effort team.
The infographic...great effort team.
Julie Lindsay:
Flat classrooms - http://www.flatclassroomconference.com/ - http://flatclassrooms.ning.com/
Mystery Skype - connecting with other classrooms around the world - kids don't know
where the class is...
ICT collaboration and integration:
What's working? What's not working?
T-Chart - helps/hinders:
:) - continuum curriculum; access; motivation; support from the school; sharing, exchange;
:( - planning around units (limited); resistance; privacy issues; connectivity; access (limited to certain programs)
Critical thinking - what should I use to complete this task?

Session 6: plan for ICT integration: Nick and Bronwyn
IDEAS SO FAR...
1. Share the collaboration cycle - http://kimcofino.com/blog/2010/03/20/creating-a-culture-of-collaboration-through-technology-integration/
2. Reflect on and review ISHCMC ICT Standards Descriptors - place on ISCHMC wiki.
3. Flesh out with ideas - what's left? Skills development - as an appendix?
4. Add to weekly planning meetings - what can be covered? Just like we do for maths/UOI/language.
Session 7: What might an ICT Policy for your school look like?
See above.
Session 8: ICT reflection and assessment
How have you used technology to support reflection and/or self-assessment?
What do you know? What have you done? For yourself? With your students?
Video recording - students thoughts have been recorded to later go back to and reflect upon.
Kidspiration - kids dragging and dropping pics into different categories. Checking for understanding - formative assessment.
Atlas - adding reflections to our PYP planning documents.
Team planning meeting minutes - using Wiki to add details/sending via email; minutes are used to reflect on all team related issues.
2 o'clock buddy - Nick:
Rubric - kids add details to the word doc; Edmodo and Wiki - respond to assignments;
Session 9: Personal Inquiries...
- Develop a plan for effective implementation of iPads as learning tools
within the classroom.
- Continuum of ICT skills - EE2/3 to G5.
The sound-scape...TED talks - Julian Treasure - The 4 ways sounds affects us.
Bird song - put this on your headphones
http://freeplaymusic.com/
remix
Session 10-11 - personal action plan:
2-4 main goals and be focused on improving ICT in your classroom and/or school.
